Erato was founded in Turin in 2018 by conductor Dario Ribechi and tenor Massimo Lombardi. The choir varies in size from 16 to 24 singers, bringing together some of the best voices on the Italian scene with diverse experiences in the world of opera, ensemble, and solo singing. Each singer in Erato boasts her/his own high professional and academic profile, with choir members regularly collaborating with such important musical institutions as the Accademia de La Scala, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, Teatro Regio di Torino, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Coro Ghislieri, the Philharmonie in Berlin, the Freiburg Barockorchester, the Swedish Radio Choir, the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, Nederlands Kamerkoor, il pomo d’oro, La Compagnia del Madrigale, Coro della Radio Svizzera Italiana and La Capella Reial de Catalunya.
Erato members are invited on a regular basis to sing in projects for renowned musicians such as Jordi Savall, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Ottavio Dantone, Diego Fasolis, Juraj Valchua, Peter Dijkstra, Maxim Emelyanychev, Tõnu Kaljuste and Kristjan Järvi.
Among our latest collaborations was the opening concert of the De Sono season in April 2021 at the Conservatory of Turin (live broadcast) and the world premiere recording of Carlo Boccadoro’s Madrigals on texts by Primo Levi, composed for the theater play “Se questo è un uomo” by Walter Malosti.
In November 2021 Erato performed Giacomo Puccini’s Messa di Gloria at the Duomo of Milan, with Ensemble K under the baton of Simone Menezes, in an event sponsored by Cartier International as part of “Metanoia”, a project that will bring Erato to perform at the Opera of Dubai in March 2022.
